SUMMER BUS TRIPS



FARMINGTON LIBRARY BUS TRIP REGISTRATION OPEN

Shaker Village trip has been CANCELED


TRIP CANCELED SHAKER VILLAGE, MASS. - 7/7/09 - $37
On July 7, the Library trip will be to the Hancock Shaker Village in Massachusetts. The original Shaker village site and buildings have been restored and all buildings are open to the public. The tours of the buildings and gardens are self guided but “mini tours” (ie. the gardens) are available at specific times during the day.. The Village Harvest CafĂ© serves lunch or you can bring your own picnic. The museum gift shop features Shaker food and items, including the famous Shaker oval boxes. The bus will depart from the Library at 9 am and leave the Village between 2:30 and 3:00.. The cost of the trip is $37.00 (includes the bus and entrance to the Village). Lunch is “on your own”. Registration deadline is June 13,2009.

TRIP CANCELED MUSEUM MILE - 6/2/09 - $38
The Museum Mile trip to New York City is planned for Tuesday, June 2, 2009. Each person will be given information on the nine museums located within a mile of each other on 5th Avenue, a map, and information on the museum restaurants. Take this opportunity to visit a museum new to you or revisit an old favorite. The bus will depart from the Library at 7:45 am and leave the Metropolitan in New York at approximately 3:30 pm. The cost of the trip is $38.00 (museum admission and lunch are “on your own”). Registration deadline is May 9, 2009.

The Cloisters house the Metropolitan Museum of Art's collection of art and architecture from medieval Europe. Best known for the beautiful tapestries on display, the Cloisters also offer architectural installations, a series of special programs, and fantastic views of the Hudson. New York Botanical Gardens Enjoyed by All!

Museum of Modern Art, NYC

The Van Gogh by Night Exhibit. This exhibition presents new insights into Van Gogh's depictions of night landscapes, interior scenes, and the effect of both gas light and natural light on their surroundings. The exhibition includes over two dozen works of superlative quality, several of which have never been seen together. Bus departs library at 7:45 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16th and leaves NYC at 3:30 p.m., returning to the library at 6:30 p.m. For more information and registration, call the library at 673-6791.

Bus trip to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston May 20th - All Aboard!


Join us on a trip to view the groundbreaking exhibition "El Greco to Velazquez: Art During the Reign of Philip III" which examines the period 1598-1621 with masterpieces by these two giants of Spanish painting and their contemporaries. The trip is scheduled for Tues., May 20. The bus will leave the main library at 8:30 and will return about 6:30. Cost is $55 which includes the bus and admission to the museum. Guided tours are an additional $10 and audio guides are $5. Lunch is on your own in the Museum's full-service cafeteria. We will hold your reservation upon receipt of your check made out to the Farmington Library.
